Nairobi will witness the inaugural Consumer Dialogue Forum on home ownership and agribusiness on Friday, October 13 from 8 am to 12pm at 680 Hotel.

The open forum, a partnership between Cofek and Diamond Property Merchants Ltd, will seek to creat awareness on beating fraud on home ownership and agribusiness.

Various experts are lined up to speak at the event. They include lawyers and agronomists among others will seek to demonstrate to the public that one can realistically invest in joint home ownership and agribusiness.

The Agriculture and Food Authority representative will be present to articulate on the missing regulation of the sub-sector.

Hundreds of companies have since been selling an eighth of an acre between Sh200,000 and Sh700,000 and charging similar amount for setting up greenhouses supposedly to to earn the investors an average of Sh250,000 after every 6 months.

Such land is often bought in areas around Nairobi for instance Kajiado, Kiambu and Machakos Counties.

But the lucrative scheme, most popular among middle-income population, has been infiltrated by fraudsters. Cofek has received over 200 complaints on a firm called Property Reality Company (PRC) and Kilimo Biashara, among others.

After due diligence on Diamond Property Merchants, on which no single complaint has been received, Cofek decided to partner with DPM so as to salvage the situation by creating awareness and further offer honest opportunities to investors.

Its for this reason that the Friday forum will seek to among other issues provide Kenyan public with information on credible companies and work with AFA to ensure that grievance redress mechanisms for defrauded investors are fast put in place.

Cofek Property Division is also at hand to advise willing Kenyans on emerging issues and trends on home ownership and agribusiness sub-sector.
