BETTER DAYS: Water CS Eugene Wamalwa and his former PS Mr Patrick Mwangi at a past event
Health Cabinet Secretary Dr Cleopa Mailu and his water counterpart Eugene Wamalwa are breathing easy after their principal secretaries Dr Nicholas Muraguri and Patrick Mwangi were moved to other ministries in a move that will end the frosty relations.
Both CSes have had hostile relationships with their PS'es which has often spilled to the public - with Mr Mwangi once walking out on Mr Wamalwa at a public event. Only last week, Africa Development Bank was forced to shelve funding of a Sh62 bn dam construction in Ukambani area when the two could not agree on the contractor.
At Afya House, Dr Muraguri a man said to wield excessive power and influence had severally been in open defiance of his soft-spoken boss Dr Mailu.
In both cases, the differences between the CS'es and PS'es revolve around tenders and tenderpreneurs.
Dr Muraguri will now joins Prof Jacob Kaimenyi at Kilimo House while Patrick Mwangi will join the former Barclays Bank CEO Adan Mohammed and the Ministry of Industry and Enterprise Devlopment.
In another changes, President Uhuru Kenyatta moved Micah Powon to Devolution; Amb. Peter Kaberia to Sports Development; Mwanamaka Mabaruki to genders affairs; Zeinab Hussein to Irrigation; Julius Korir to Health; Mariam El-Maawy to Public Works and Saitoti Torome to Defence.
Others moved were Wilson Nyakera to Planning and Stastics; Dr Paul Mwangi to Transport and Amb. Richard Ekai (adversely mentioned over the Rio Scandal) will now be at the Correctional Services
State House Spokesman Manoah Esipisu said the President had among other reasons made the changes to "... enhance teamwork ..."
